Remove My Security Shield
This website was set up to help people safely remove My Security Shield from their computer systems. Please note that we are not affiliated with My Security Shield or its malicious software.
My Security Shield (aka MySecurityShield) is a rogueware program from the same family as My Security Engine, Security Master AV, Security Antivirus and Security Guard. This latest incarnation is associated with the new domain name www5.my-security-shield.com. My Security Sheild is designed by its makers to alarm users of infected computers into downloading and purchasing their software product. This is achieved by falsely reporting malware or virus activity, memory problems or identity theft activity. These warning messages have all the appearance of genuine system or application messages but please don't be fooled by them. They are fake. Wording varies but may include text such as:
- Address Space Conflict
- Warning! access conflict detected
- Memory Access Problem
- Warning! Identity Theft Detected
- Warning! your computer is at risk of malware attacks
- Warning! virus detected
As part of its deception, the program also loads a number benign files on your computer which it then detects during a fake scan and falsely reports them as malware. It may also hijack your web browser and redirect it to websites you don't want.
To permanently remove My Security Shield warning messages and all the software components, it's imperative that you also get rid of any Trojan horse that put it there in the first place. A manual removal procedure is provided here, but please be aware that manually updating the Windows registry runs the risk of damaging your operating system and causing your PC to fail on rebooting. It should only be attempted by tech-savvy users. Instead we recommend using a good antispyware program such as Spyware Doctor by PC Tools or Malwarebytes' Anti-malware. The more advanced Spyware Doctor requires paid registration to enable deletions, however Malwarebytes will remove malware for free. These programs are updated on a regular basis to remove the latest variants of My Security Shield as well as many other malicious programs. The following steps will help you get rid of My Security Shield both safely and forever:
- Download Spyware Doctor OR Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
- Install and run Spyware Doctor or Malwarebytes removing all detected infections.
- Reboot your PC.
- Run Spyware Doctor or Malwarebytes again to verify My Security Shield has been properly removed.
To prevent future attacks by malicious programs such as My Security Shield make sure you always install Windows security updates and use only a reputable anti-spyware program such as Spyware Doctor.
